Unpack a Gzip hexdump

Rebuild bytes from formatted hexadecimal text and decompress the resulting stream.

Install in Serialize →

What it can do

  • Strip offsets and ASCII gutters from a hexdump
  • Recover the original byte stream
  • Recognize and decompress Gzip data
  • Produce the final plaintext in one run

Recipe

From Hexdump → Gunzip

The first output should begin with the Gzip signature 1f 8b. If it does not, stop before Gunzip and check the hexdump format.

Expected final text:

So long and thanks for all the fish.

This recipe demonstrates the central value of chaining: one reproducible workflow crosses both a textual representation boundary and a binary compression boundary.
